2019 Sand Sports Super Show Highlights

Sand Sports Extravaganza

The Sand Sports Super Show is the largest annual gathering of dune recreation exhibitors and enthusiasts in the world. It takes place at the Orange County Fair & Events Center in Costa Mesa, California every September.

The 2019 Sand Sports Super Show is September 13-15 at the OC Fair & Event Center in Costa Mesa, California

The show was once dominated by sand buggy parts, accessories and builds but over the past five to 10 years, UTVs have taken over the show. You can find anything you could ever imagine to help customize your UTV for sand recreation.

We visited the 2019 show and rounded up some of the companies and products that we found interesting. Below you will find an overview video from the show and videos from 17 companies describing some of the products that they showcased at the show.

2019 Sand Sports Super Show Overview

Daystar

Daystar is known for producing interior and exterior parts for trucks and Jeeps, including lift and leveling kits but many of Daystar’s products are a great fit for UTVs. The Daystar Cam-Cans provide a way to safely transport fuel, water and tools. Daystar also showed off its GMRS two-way radios.

Dragonfire Racing

Chandler, Arizona-based DragonFire Racing specializes in side-x-side accessories, including LED lighting, wheels, tires, roofs and windshields. Dragonfire Racing brought several side x sides to the 2019 Sand Sports Super Show, including a Honda Talon fully loaded with Dragonfire accessories, an experimental Black Bandit car, and a Polaris Turbo S RZR nicknamed “Teal O’Neil.”

Gibson Exhaust

Gibson Exhaust had a Honda Talon outfitted with a black Gibson dual exhaust kit. Gibson specializes in exhaust systems that can provide additional power and acceleration, yet still have a quieter sound.

HCR Racing

HCR Racing, provider of suspension accessories and long travel kits, has been around since the early days of the first UTVs and side x sides. HCR had a Polaris RZR Pro XP at the show that was widened from the stock 64 inches to 72 inches.

Hard Core Tuning (HCT)

The crew at Hard Core Tuning (HCT) are experts in ECU tuning software and offer solutions to keeping your machine running cooler. HCT brought a new stainless Quietcore exhaust system for Polaris RZR XP Turbo models to the Sand Sports show. The system is ideal for those who ride in areas with strict noise ordinances or just don’t want a loud exhaust system.

Honda

Honda has been making the Pioneer line of UTVs for several years but did not have a true sport UTV available until the launch of the Talon earlier this year. So this was an exciting year for Honda at the Sand Sports Super Show to showcase the Honda Talon 1000R and 1000X as well as the Talon 1000X-4 that will be available in November.

Kicker

The Kicker booth had its Phase 3 and Phase 5 Powersports kits that are all-inclusive with everything you need installing yourself. The kits even include pre-cut wires specific to your machine.

Mac’s Tie-Downs

Colin McLemore was at the Mac’s Tie-Downs booth with a Polaris all decked out by Proline Wraps. McLemore brought a variety of tie-downs, including Mac’s UTV Wheel Nets that lock your UTV wheels in place while trailering, allowing the vehicle’s own suspension to smoothly absorb the bumps of the road.

MasterCraft Safety

MasterCraft Safety has been around since 1971, and its original slogan was “Safety in Seating.” MasterCraft not only had UTV-specific suspension seats, but also had a selection of Impact helmets.

Maxxis Tires

The Carnivore tires were on display at the Maxxis booth. The light truck-inspired tire is engineered for performance in extreme (in other words, West Coast) terrains. Maxxis had also some advice on what to look for when buying tires.

Polaris

Polaris brought its new Pro XP decked out in red, white and blue graphics. Polaris also had one stripped down to the bones so visitors could get a good look at the guts of the XP.

Sector Seven

Sector Seven by Pro Moto Billet brought its flagship product, the Spectrum a light/mirror combo, which was introduced last year. The Sector Seven rep said the Spectrum’s the lights are so bright that you can see in the future and the mirrors are so clear that you can see into the past

STEEL-IT Coatings

STEEL-IT coatings had Team Honda’s UTV that had been treated with STEEL-IT, which is made to protect against corrosion and wear.

System 3 Off-Road

System 3 Off-Road, distributed by Tucker Powersports, had its brand-new SS360 sand tires, which are designed to keep your UTV riding on top of the sand. The SS360 tires have a lightweight 2-ply rated carcass for low-rolling resistance and less vehicle stress.

VooDoo Offroad

VooDoo Offroad had stacks of neon green Recovery Rope, animal leashes and more at the show. VooDoo says every one of its products meet the highest industry standards and have been tested by real people in real vehicles on real terrain.

Walker Evans Racing

Walker Evans Racing has been a fixture in off-roading for more than three decades and has been expanding its lineup to include even more UTV-specific parts. For the Sand Show, they had plenty of wheels on hand, and, of course, loads of shocks.

Yamaha

Yamaha showed up to the 2019 Sand Sports Super Show with some of its racing machines, including a King Of The Hammers race UTV.

The 2019 Sand Sports Super Show is a wrap, but it marks the start of sand season on the West Coast, so now its time to head for the dunes.
