How Does A Variable Compression Ratio Engine Work?

The INFINITI Variable Compression Turbo eliminates the compromise between a powerful engine with poor fuel economy and a fuel efficient engine with lower horsepower. Inside the engine, a unique multi-link system literally changes shape to vary the compression ratio. A low compression ratio of 8:1 generates impressive horsepower, while a high compression ratio of 14:1 helps give you up to 31 miles per gallon.
